    Home water-testing kits produce numbers. Without somewhere to record those numbers, it is hard to know whether your water has changed, whether a filter is working, or whether a reading was unusual. A simple log makes patterns visible.

    This tool lets you record any parameter you test for, along with the date and an optional note. Entries are stored privately in your browser — nothing is sent to any server, and no account is required.

    How to use this tool

    Fill in the four fields and click Add reading:

    • Date — defaults to today; you can backdate entries.
    • Parameter — choose from pH, hardness, chlorine, TDS or "Other" for anything else.
    • Value — enter the number (and unit if needed) from your test kit.
    • Note — optional context such as "after filter change" or "water looked cloudy".

    Entries appear newest-first. Remove individual readings with the × button, or wipe the whole log with Clear all. The summary panel shows total readings and your most recent result at a glance. All data is stored only in this browser.

    A little background

    Home test kits vary widely in accuracy — strips give a rough indication, while digital meters and lab tests are more precise. This tool makes no judgement about your results; it simply stores them for your own reference.

    Tool FAQ

    Most drinking water guidelines suggest a pH between 6.5 and 8.5. Values outside that range can affect taste and may indicate other issues, but pH alone does not determine safety. See our guide on water pH for more detail.

    Many guidelines consider up to 500 ppm acceptable, and water below 300 ppm is generally considered excellent. TDS measures all dissolved solids together — some minerals are beneficial, so very low TDS is not always better.

    The tool does not include a built-in export, but you can use your browser's print or copy function to capture the entries. The data stays in localStorage and is not backed up elsewhere.

    Entries persist until you remove them or clear your browser's localStorage. There is no automatic expiry — the log grows as long as you add to it.
